Its always good to challenge yourself and keep pushing the boundaries of learning. Pick a topic, do some research and try out some new techniques. Having a dry day when it comes to being creative? Why not have a go at a photo challenge and see how far you can push your boundaries and if you can develop that elusive habit to take pictures on a regular basis.
At times I find myself struggling for inspiration, more-so this year with all the challenges it brings. However a photo challenge can really help get the creative juices flowing and put you on the road to being more exciting with your images, more often.
The basic concept of a photo challenge is to where you are presented with a range of subjects over a period of days and you take an image related to that days topic while trying to be creative and think outside the box in it’s composition. Subjects are likely to be things that you wouldn’t normally think of, hence the challenge! Often, it will last for 7 days or many run for a month or on the same day every week, sometimes with daily themes linked into the month or season of the year. If you are feeling particularly committed then there are 365 challenges around that last for an entire year! Note: don’t get hung up on starting these on a particular day – the first day of a month or year, for example – as this goes against the concept. Putting it off until then means you are more likely not to bother when that day comes around. Find one and start now!
